Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult period, managing just one win at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.
His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-term coach Cervara.
Now training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.
It is the player's maiden trophy since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after March of the previous year.
Victory also indicates he has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his past six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.
Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted some to question if his capacity to play at the elite level was finished.
Yet the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and compete positively, reinforced by an better service.
Medvedev came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.
The pair traded service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a decider.
Moutet rescued 4 early-game chances in a tight deciding set before the champion broke to fifteen to serve for the match.
Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
